What do I need to use MyOffice PBX?

Virtually any business can use MyOffice PBX regardless of business type or business location.  There’s no complex hardware to install or maintain, and no technical expertise required. PBX management is all done with our user-friendly Web Control Panel and you can use virtually any type of phone; VoIP phones (plug-in or wi-fi), mobile phones, softphones and even your existing cell and landline phones.

A VoIP or IP phone is simply a handset that uses voice over IP (VoIP) technology to allow calls to be made and received over an IP network (like the Internet) instead of using the traditional Public Switched Telephone Network (PSTN).

If you choose to purchase or use your own VoIP desk phones with MyOffice PBX, you will need a high-speed internet connection (rj-45 cable) with a power outlet at each phone location and a PC web browser to log in and manage our online web control panel.

Wi-fi enabled VoIP desk phones are simply standard VoIP phones that can connect to the internet using your wireless router (rather than a physical data cable/rj-45 cable).

So, if you choose to purchase, or bring use your own wi-fi enabled VoIP desk phones, you will simply need a wireless router (for wireless phone connectivity) and a power outlet at each location and a PC web browser to log in and manage our online web control panel.

A softphone is a piece of software that allows the user to make telephone calls over the Internet via a computer, tablet or smartphone.

If you choose to use softphones with MyOffice PBX, you will need a PC, tablet or smartphone, a USB headset (if using a PC) and one of several available Free Softphone Applications to receive and make calls with MyOffice PBX and to access and manage our online web control panel.

A landline phone is your typical home phone or business phone line. They're wired to phone jacks that are in turn connected to your local phone company.

For businesses that will simply use MyOffice PBX with their existing landline or mobile phones, there's no hardware needed.  The only thing you will need is a PC web browser to log in and manage our online web control panel. Please note that some MyOffice PBX features are not available when using a landline or cell phone.

How much bandwidth do I need for MyOffice PBX?

Generally, a MyOffice PBX call will use 90 kilobits per second (kbps) of bandwidth for the duration of the call.  Your exact needs will depend on the call volume and call patterns at your company. 

How much technical skill is involved in the setup of MyOffice PBX services?

MyOffice PBX is very simple to use. We provide hands-on setup assistance for every customer.  We'll walk you through the process step-by-step if you like.  We also provide administrative training during the provisioning process and online videos and quick start guides that show how to use our control panel and features. 

What equipment do I need to set up MyOffice PBX services?

Features may vary depending on the device type you use.  VoIP phones provide the most features and functionality. VoIP phones purchased directly from MyOffice PBX will arrive plug and call ready. Simply connect the device to your Internet connection, and all services and features will be automatically provisioned to the device in minutes.  If you decide to use your own VoIP phones, we'll provide you all the technical information needed to connect them to our network.  We'll even help you through their configuration where we can.

Can we use our existing phone numbers with MyOffice PBX services?

Yes, we can transfer your numbers from your existing service provider to us.  We'll even give you temporary numbers during the transfer process.

Are toll-free numbers available?

Yes. With MyOffice PBX you can order new toll-free numbers or port existing toll-free numbers.

When you transfer phone services to MyOffice PBX, you won't have to leave your old number behind. You can bring your phone number to us using a process called local number portability.

MyOffice PBX will work with most broadband internet services (Cable, DSL, T1, WiFi etc...).

In order to ensure the highest level of voice quality, we recommend that an additional 90 Kbps of internet bandwidth (per active call) be allocated above your current data consumption.

Yes, emergency 911 calls over VoIP devices are managed through e911 procedures.  

Emergency 911 calls over standard phone lines are handled by the phone carrier for those phone lines.

Our service includes unlimited domestic USA & Canada long distance inbound and outbound calling. This includes toll free inbound and outbound calling. For international calls, we offer very competitive per minute rates.

In case of an internet/power outage at your business locations, you will lose VoIP phone connectivity to the MyOffice PBX servers.  

However, unlike a traditional PBX, the service is hosted in the cloud. By setting up fail over actions for Auto Attendants, and groups you can make sure that calls will be delivered. You also have the options to setup Find-Me/Follow-Me or Call Forwarding for each user extension.
