Creating your first User Extension
What are User Extensions?
User extensions are usually desk phones. However, since MyOffice PBX is Cloud-based, user extensions can also be a cell phone, a home phone, another PBX or even any existing landline. However, to make the most use out of MyOffice PBX, its features and services, a VoIP phone or softphone application is best.
There are several options for customizing your User Extension. For a more complete explanation of each field and its function, refer to our tutorials & videos.
- For the purposes of this quick start guide, we will:
- Create a user extension numbered 4001
- Assign a first and last name to the extension
- Create user login credentials which allows the user to manage their extension & its features
- Enable the users voicemail box and assign it a password
Note: If you will be registering a VoIP device to this extension, your SIP registration will be created automatically. It can be viewed in the users control panel.
Adding a user extension:
- To begin from the admin Control Panel click the "Extensions" menu and select Add.
- Select User Extension in the drop-down menu, and then select Continue.
- Next, you will see the “Add New Extension” data entry form. Fill out the required user information, and then click Add Extension.
- After clicking Add Extension, you will be taken to the Extension Managementtab where you should see your newly created extension. A registered status of “red” indicates that there is currently no VoIP device active for this extension, while green means that a VoIP device is currently registered to this extension.
- You have not registered a VoIP device to this extension yet, so your registered status should be red
